When we realised how bad our internet usage is for the planet, we couldn’t look back.

When we first started discussing how we can make a positive impact on the world, we knew we had to start looking at our own behavior. As heavy internet users ourselves, we've been drawn to investigate what's the impact of our internet usage on the planet.

Everytime we click, scroll or play a video, we tend to forget that everything runs on electricity. Everything on our phones and laptops seems virtual, but the data centers and the network infrastructure are very real.

Today our internet usage is responsible for 1.5% of all CO2 emissions, equivalent to the entire airline industry and set to grow by an alarming rate of 200% by 2025. As the current network and data centers are not using 100% renewable energy, about 543 megatons of CO2 were emitted last year, 75 megatons in the US alone.

We created Woody to make it easy for all of us to reduce the impact of our internet usage and be conscious of how green our digital habits are. And to go beyond reducing it, with each subscription we are donating to Trees For The Future, a trusted partner to plant trees and offset our carbon footprint.
